$75 non-refundable application fee is required. This fee is submitted online and can be paid by Visa or Mastercard. Checks are not accepted.
Applicants applying to a Dual-Degree Program will need to submit two separate applications and application fees.
TRANSCRIPTS: An official transcript from each university attended and credit earned is required. Applicants can choose to 'mail' or 'upload' a copy of their academic recrd. Please see UPLOADING A TRANSCRIPT for detailed instructions and a link to the UPLOAD page. All transcripts must be received by the application deadline. Foreign transcripts must be accompanied by notarized English translations.
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION:Three letters are required for all Degree Programs. Applicants to the Introduction to Architecture Program and Special Students need not submit a letter. Visiting Scholars and applicants to the New York/Paris Program are required to submit one letter of recommendation.Recommenders may submit their letters electronically through our application system. If your recommender does not wish to submit their recommendation letters online, letters can be submitted on the recommender’s own stationary and be sent directly to the school. The GSAPP does not have a special form to fill out or specific questions to answer. The recommender should include the applicants full name and program of study in the body of the letter. Envelopes must be sealed with the writer’s signature across the flap. Please have paper recommendations sent directly to:

PERSONAL STATEMENTWith the exception of the Introduction to Architecture Program and the M.S. Real Estate Development Program, all degree and non-degree candidates will need to submit a personal statement of approximately 500 words.
Personal statements should describe your background, your past work in your intended field of study, and your plans for graduate study and a professional career. If you are presently in a graduate program at another university, please explain why you wish to leave. If you have not yet come to a decision about your career, or if your plans are tentative, please do not hesitate to say so.
Introduction to Architecture applicants need not submit a statement.
In lieu of a personal statement, applicants to the MSRED Program are required to submit three-500 word essays.
RESUME: Resumes are required for the M. S. Real Estate Development program.
PORTFOLIO:A portfolio is required for the Master of Architecture, M.S. Advanced Architectural Design and the M.S. Architecture and Urban Design program.
A / MASTER OF ARCHITECTURE - All applicants must submit a portfolio containing reproductions of original drawings, prints, graphic design, or sculpture. Portfolios must
not exceed 8 ½ X 11 inches( 22 X 28cm) or be more than ½ inch (2cm) thick. Large Portfolios with glass or protruding metal parts, slides, DVD’s, or CDs are not accepted. Portfolios must be marked with the applicants’ full name.
B / M.S. ADVANCED ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN & M.S. ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN DESIGN - Applicants must submit examples of architectural design following the above format.
Portfolios that do not conform to this format will not be accepted.
Please submit a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you wish to have your portfolio returned. For international addresses you may submit postage coupons in lieu of U.S. stamps.
All Architectural portfolios will be discarded May 15 unless return is requested prior to this date.
TEST SCORESA / GRADUATE RECORD EXAM (GRE):The GRE is required of all applicants to the Master of Architecture, Urban Planning, Historic Preservation and Critical, Curatorial and Conceptual Practices programs. Applicants to the Real Estate Development Programare required to submit GRE or GMAT scores.
Test scores should arrive by the application deadline. A score of 500 or above on both sections are suggested. GSAPP requires a minimum verbal score of 450. Submitted applications with a verbal score below 450 will not be reviewed. Information about the GRE can be obtained by contacting the Educational Testing Service by phone 1-800-473-2255 or web at
www.gre.org. Test scores should be sent to the institution code
2164. A department code is not needed.
Applicants to the Advanced Architectural Design and Architecture and Urban Design programs are not required to take the GRE.
B / GRADUATE MANAGEMENT ADMISSION TEST (GMAT):Applicants to the Real Estate Development Program are required to submit a GRE
or GMAT scores. Candidates who choose to take the GMAT should contact the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) or visit
HTTP://WWW.MBA>COM/MBA/THEGMAT. Test scores should be sent to the institution code QF8-73-53.

NOTICE OF ADMISSION STATUS:Applicants may view their decision status via ApplyYourself by the first week of April. Admission decisions are not given over the phone.
