Letters for Recommendation

Dear Professor X,

As a refresher I was a student in your XXX class in TERM00 earning an A for the quarter. As we are moving forward to graduate school, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you for your commitment and the privilege of learning from you in these formative years; the material was a great marriage of fun and foundation! SOMETHING PERSONAL.

I was wondering if I may trouble you for any kind words you may place in a letter of recommendation? I feel your seal of approval would go a great ways in championing my cause to further my education. I would also like to stop by and visit during office hours for a brief chat…as well as pick up/drop off any necessary postage. If you could be so kind as to print multiple copies (5) it would be extremely appreciated. I have enclosed a link to my resume and portfolio to give you a barometer of my passion for the field and its progression. Once again, thank you for your time and consideration.

*Please keep in mind that the portfolio needs to be updated as soon as I get free. My work for you will be highlighted in a new format.

All the best,

P.S. A Sci-Arc form for recommendation letters is attached. I took the liberty of filling in your contact information to save time and hassle. Please let me know if this needs to be updated in any way.
